Night time Skincare Routine on a Budget

Helllllo, I’m back!

Sooo as a student, the funds are pretty low and by low i mean I’m so far into my overdraft it hurts (lol).

Therefore although I do like to splurge on luxury products now and again, I’ve kept my skincare pretty cheap and honestly, It is working wonders on my skin.

I started the new year like most, vouching to stick to my resolutions and one being to look after my body and I’m determined to keep up with my skincare routine.

I am by no means saying that this is the routine I use every single night but I have been using this routine most nights so far in 2018 (yes, i know it is only the 16th day of 2018, haha!)

I’d say my skin is normal to dry and can be quite sensitive to certain products and with that it mind, these are the products that are working for me at the moment and are so affordable.

Step one

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Water, RRP £5.99
Superdrug Cotton Wool Oval Pads, RRP £1.99

For the first step of removing my makeup I use the Garnier Skin Active, Micellar Water (Oil-infused). This product is for dry/sensitive skin and you can use it all over your face. I use this mainly just to remove my eye makeup and any makeup on my eyebrows. I do use it to remove any face makeup, and on a lazy day I would use this to remove all my makeup as it does work pretty well, a lot better than just makeup wipes.

I apply the Micellar water to the Cotton pads, I find it just makes sense to use the large cotton pads but obviously you could use the regular ones. You can get these cotton pads from most cosmetic stores, I just happened to get mine from Superdrug.

Step two

Superdrug Tea Tree Foaming Face Wash, RRP £3.49.

So the next step of my routine is to wash my face, I am currently using a Superdrug’s own brand foam face wash. I much prefer foaming face wash products to others, I find it really exfoliates my face. I’m sure you all know how to wash your face so I won’t be patronising by explaining the process of this step. I also love this product as it contains tea tree which is not only good for your skin but it smells pretty good!

Step three

No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush, RRP £25 (currently only £16!!!)
No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser, RRP £9.50 (currently only £5!)

So I know that there is plenty of cleanser brushes out there but as this is a budget routine, I use the No7 cleansing brush, and honestly I love it. The product I am currently using within my routine is the No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel. At this point, my face is wet from when I have washed my face, I then apply the Gel to my skin and use the cleansing brush to almost massage the gel into my skin. The gel quite literally melts any remaining makeup left on your face, I then wash my face for a final time to remove anything left on my face and ensure the brush head is clean for the next use.  I’m really loving these two products but am keen to try other melting gels as I know there is many! My boyfriend also bought me two extra brush heads for Christmas.

step four

Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Serum, RRP £19.95

I know what you might be thinking, £19.95 isn’t exactly budget….But honestly, you only need the tinniest amount of this serum so I think it is definitely worth the money and also budget in comparison to some high end serums. I apply this serum all over my face and neck and I just find it really hydrating for my skin.

step five

Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, RRP £4.29.

The final and probably most important step, moisturising! I use the Simple moisturiser and its one I have used for most of my makeup wearing life. I find that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy like some moisturisers can. I also don’t find myself having to moisturise every morning after I have moisturised at night.

Total cost of skincare: £70.21.

And that is my skincare routine, very simple, pretty quick (usually takes me around 10-15 minutes) and more importantly very cheap! The only product I would say I use quite excessively and would need to repurchase more often would be the Micellar water, so I think this is a really fab set of products to use if you are on a budget but still want good results. I have honestly found my skin feeling much less dry which is often hard during the winter months.

If you have any other budget skincare products you would recommend, please leave them in the comments.

Thanks for reading, I will be back very soon.

Meg X
